Who has to pay advance tax
Anyone whose tax for the year, after TDS and TCS, is expected to be ₹10,000 or more. Salaried people with only salary income are usually covered by TDS, but freelancers, investors with large capital gains or rental income, and business owners need to pay in instalments. Resident senior citizens with no business income are exempt.
