We are not an affiliate marketer. We do not enter referral programs, lead-gen agreements, or any commercial relationship with banks, NBFCs, insurance companies, or fintech apps. No issuer pays for placement on this site, no issuer reviews our copy before publication, and no issuer has editorial input.
How we make decisions
- Card rankings are based on math, not partnerships. Effective reward rate, lounge value, milestone benefit, and net-of-fee value are computed from the issuer’s public MITC.
- Calculators use formulae stated in the underlying regulation (RBI Master Direction, Income Tax Act, RBI repo-rate framework, EPFO/PFRDA scheme rules). The math is reproducible from public assumptions.
- Tax content reflects the most recent Finance Act + CBDT clarifications. Calculator outputs cross-check against the IT Department’s own e-filing portal worksheets.
Conflicts of interest
The author and editor of CreditSmart personally hold credit cards from multiple Indian issuers (HDFC, Axis, Amex, ICICI). These holdings give us first-hand experience with reward redemption, customer support, and statement quirks — but do not influence rankings. We disclose holdings on individual reviews where direct experience materially shaped the analysis.
Fact-checking
Every article is verified against primary sources before publication. The verification process is documented in detail on the How we research page. The “Verified [Month Year]” badge that appears on every article shows the most recent re-verification date.
Corrections policy
- Material errors (wrong fee, wrong rate, wrong tax computation) are corrected within 48 hours of being reported.
- Corrections are timestamped at the bottom of the article (or via the visible “Updated” badge), not silent edits.
- If you spot an error: report it via our contact form.
- If a fee or rule changes due to an issuer / regulator notification, the relevant page is re-verified within one week of the notification.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to assist with copy editing, content structuring, and code generation for calculators. We do not use AI to generate primary product data — fees, rates, eligibility, and benefits are always pulled from the issuer’s own MITC by a human editor. Calculator math is hand-validated. AI is treated as a research assistant, not a primary source.
