Axis Bank Magnus for Burgundy Credit Card Review

The Axis Magnus for Burgundy is the version of Magnus reserved for Axis Burgundy wealth customers. Its signature feature is the accelerated rate: once your spend crosses ₹1.5 lakh in a month, every further ₹200 earns 35 EDGE points instead of 12, and those points transfer to most airline and hotel partners at 5:4.

That structure makes it one of the most rewarding cards in India for very high spenders — and poor value for anyone below about ₹1.5 lakh a month.

In short: A ₹30,000 card (waived at ₹30 lakh) for Burgundy customers earning 12 EDGE points per ₹200 up to ₹1.5 lakh a month and 35 above, transferable 5:4 to most partners. At ₹3 lakh a month that is roughly 9% overall value (about 14% on spend above ₹1.5 lakh) at ₹1 a mile; at ₹50,000 a month it does not cover its fee.
What we like
  • 35 EDGE points per ₹200 on monthly spend above ₹1.5 lakh
  • 5:4 transfers to most partners, with higher annual caps than plain Magnus
  • Unlimited domestic and international lounges
  • Fee waived on ₹30 lakh annual spend
  • Forex markup about 2%
Watch out for
  • Only for Axis Burgundy customers
  • ₹30,000 fee unless you spend ₹30 lakh
  • Low value below ₹1.5 lakh a month
  • Accelerated tier capped in line with your credit limit
  • Transfer partners and ratios changed often in 2026; some partners are 5:2

Transfers: 5 points = 4 partner points for most partners, 5:2 for Accor, British Airways, Cathay, Finnair, Qatar, Vietnam Airlines and IndiGo. Annual caps for Burgundy: 2 lakh points (Group A) and 8 lakh (Group B).

Axis changes in 2026: from 28 Aug 2026 Priority Pass no longer works at domestic Indian lounges on Axis cards (use the card and boarding pass instead), gift cards and tolls earn nothing, and the markup on overseas transactions billed in rupees changed. Axis also reshuffled its airline and hotel transfer partners several times between April and September 2026 — check the current partner list before transferring.

Worked example: Spend ₹3 lakh a month (₹36 lakh a year). The first ₹1.5 lakh earns 9,000 points and the next ₹1.5 lakh earns 26,250 — 35,250 a month, or about 4.2 lakh points a year. At 5:4 to a partner mile worth ₹1, that is roughly ₹3.4 lakh of value, with the fee waived. At ₹50,000 a month you earn about 36,000 points a year — less than the ₹35,400 fee in value.
