How to compare two credit cards

  1. Start from your own spending. Write down a typical month by category (online shopping, dining, groceries, fuel, travel, bills). A card is only as good as its rewards on the categories you actually use.
  2. Convert rewards to rupees. Value points at the rate you will realistically redeem them — statement credit, vouchers or air miles — and apply monthly caps. Our reward points value calculator does this for you.
  3. Net off the fee. Subtract the annual fee unless you will clear the waiver spend. The annual fee break-even guide shows the spend at which a paid card overtakes a free one.
  4. Read the fine print that changed recently. Lounge access at many banks is now tied to a minimum spend, most issuers give no rewards on rent and charge about 1% + GST on it, and credit cards work on UPI only on the RuPay network.
  5. Value the extras honestly. Lounge visits, insurance and milestone vouchers only count if you would have paid for them anyway.

Every comparison on this page follows that method and ends with a clear verdict. For the full list of card and money comparisons, see all comparisons. Not sure which two cards to compare? Try the card finder or read our cashback vs reward points guide first.
