Rewards structure
Airtel bill payments (25% cashback): Pay Airtel mobile postpaid, prepaid recharge, broadband, Wi-Fi, DTH bills via the Airtel Thanks app and earn 25% cashback. Capped at 2× the base cashback earned in the same month — so if you earn ₹200 base cashback in a month from other spends, you can earn up to ₹400 on 25% Airtel bills that month.
Other utility bills (10% cashback): Electricity, water, gas bills paid via Airtel Thanks app earn 10%. Capped at 1× the base cashback earned in the same month.
Preferred merchants (10%): Zomato, Blinkit, District Movies — each capped at ₹200 per partner per month.
Other eligible spends: 1% cashback (uncapped).
Cashback form: Credited to your credit card account as statement cashback, 3 days before the next statement date (partner value-back goes to each partner’s own wallet). It shows on your card statement.
Welcome benefits & milestones
Welcome benefit: Amazon e-voucher worth ₹250 on first transaction within 30 days of card issuance.
Fee waiver: Spend ₹2 lakh in anniversary year → next year’s ₹500 fee waived.
No explicit spend milestones beyond the fee waiver.
What it’s worth at your spend
Worked out on the terms in force since 12 April 2026: 1% cashback on other eligible spends, 25% on Airtel mobile, broadband and DTH bills paid in the Airtel Thanks app (capped at twice that month’s base cashback), 10% on other utility bills paid there (capped at the month’s base cashback), and 10% value-back on Zomato, Blinkit and District Movies, up to ₹200 a month for each (minimum order ₹499, credited to the partner, not to the card). The ₹500 + GST fee (₹590) is waived at ₹2 lakh a year.
| Monthly spend | 1% base cashback | 25% on Airtel bills (cap 2× base) | 10% on other utilities (cap 1× base) | 10% partner value-back | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₹10,500: Airtel ₹1,500, utilities ₹3,000, Zomato ₹1,000, other ₹5,000 | ₹50 | ₹375 → capped ₹100 | ₹300 → capped ₹50 | ₹100 | ₹300 a month: ₹3,600 a year; after the ₹590 fee, ₹3,010 (2.4%) |
| ₹15,000: Airtel ₹1,000, utilities ₹2,000, Zomato/Blinkit ₹2,000, other ₹10,000 | ₹100 | ₹250 → capped ₹200 | ₹200 → capped ₹100 | ₹200 | ₹600 a month: ₹7,200 a year; after the ₹590 fee, ₹6,610 (3.7%) |
| ₹28,500: Airtel ₹1,500, utilities ₹3,000, Zomato/Blinkit/District ₹4,000, other ₹20,000 | ₹200 | ₹375 (within ₹400 cap) | ₹300 → capped ₹200 | ₹400 | ₹1,175 a month: ₹14,100 a year, fee waived (4.1%) |
The caps are the catch: the bill-payment cashback is limited by how much you spend elsewhere on the card. With only ₹5,000 of other spends, ₹675 of potential bill cashback shrinks to ₹150. To unlock the full 25% on a ₹1,500 Airtel bill you need about ₹19,000 of other monthly spend. Fuel, rent, wallet, insurance and EMI earn nothing, and there are no lounges since April 2026.
You pay Airtel mobile, broadband or DTH bills through Airtel Thanks, order on Zomato or Blinkit, and also put ₹15,000–₹20,000 a month of everyday spends on the card so the caps don’t bite.
The card would mainly carry your bills: with little other spend, the caps cut the bill cashback to a fraction. Also skip it if you want lounge access, which was removed in April 2026.

Compared with alternatives
Axis ACE (₹499) →
Similar fee. 5% Google Pay bills (Android-only) + 4% food delivery + 1.5% flat. Axis ACE broader utility; Airtel Axis specifically better for Airtel customers.
Axis MyZone (₹500) →
Same fee. Entertainment-focused (SonyLIV + BOGO movies + EazyDiner). Different use case.
HDFC Swiggy (₹500) →
Same fee. 10% Swiggy + 5% on 9 categories. Pick based on whether you’re Airtel-heavy or Swiggy-heavy.
Flipkart Axis (₹500) →
Same fee. Shopping-focused (Flipkart 5% + Myntra 7.5%). Different ecosystem.
Who the Airtel Axis Bank is for
Airtel customers who pay mobile + broadband + DTH bills monthly. At ₹1,000/month Airtel bills × 25% = ₹250/month = ₹3,000/year cashback from Airtel bills alone (subject to cap) + ₹2K from Zomato/Blinkit/District + 1% on other = net ₹6-8K/year on ₹500 fee. Strong if you’re Airtel-loyal.
Not the right card if: you’re Jio or Vi customer (get Axis ACE for Google Pay bills instead). Also weaker fit if you don’t use Airtel Thanks app or pay bills through other channels. The Apr 2026 lounge removal hurts users who valued that benefit.
How to apply & how to cancel
Apply: Apply via axisbank.com/airtel-axis or Airtel Thanks app (co-branded flow). Instant eligibility. Approval 3-5 days.
Cancel: Call Axis helpline (1860 419 5555). Clear dues. Unused and pending cashback is forfeited when the card is closed.
Final verdict
Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card is an excellent niche card for Airtel ecosystem users. The 25% on Airtel bills is the highest bill-payment cashback in India, and the 10% on other utilities + 10% on Zomato/Blinkit/District adds to it. The Apr 2026 lounge discontinuation hurts but doesn’t fundamentally undermine the cashback value. Must-hold for any Airtel customer spending ₹800+/month on Airtel services.
Frequently asked questions
What changed on 12 April 2026?
Complimentary domestic lounge access was discontinued. Previously cardholders got 4 domestic lounge visits/year; that benefit is now removed entirely. Card positioning shifted to pure bills-cashback.
How exactly does 25% on Airtel bills cap work?
Capped at 2× the base cashback earned in the same month. Example: If you spent ₹20,000 in a month and earned ₹200 base cashback (1%), you can earn up to ₹400 (2× ₹200) on Airtel bills via Airtel Thanks that month.
Is the 10% on utilities automatic?
You must pay via the Airtel Thanks app specifically. Utility and telecom bills paid outside the Airtel Thanks app earn no cashback at all.
Where does cashback credit?
Cashback is credited to your card account (it shows on your statement). Partner value-back goes to the Zomato, Blinkit or District wallet. It works as a direct credit to your card account.
Can I earn all 3 partner cashbacks (Zomato + Blinkit + District)?
Yes — each capped at ₹200/month separately. Max from partners = ₹600/month = ₹7,200/year (if you hit each cap monthly).
Is Airtel Axis available as LTF?
Not by default. Fee is ₹500 waivable at ₹2L annual spend.
Does it support Airtel Payments Bank bill payments?
Airtel Payments Bank transactions may or may not qualify as “utility bills via Airtel Thanks” — confirm specific category at application.
Can I upgrade to Axis Select or Magnus?
Yes — Conversion is at Axis Bank’s discretion, and all unused or pending cashback is forfeited when the card is converted to another Axis card.
