TL;DR

PIXEL Go is HDFC Bank’s simplest digital card. It pays a flat 1% back as CashPoints on most spends, 5% on HDFC SmartBuy bookings (up to 500 CashPoints a month) and 1% on UPI if you choose the RuPay variant. The fee is just ₹250 + GST and is waived once you spend ₹50,000 in a year. It has no category packs — that is the PIXEL Play card — and no lounge access.

Pros & cons

What we like
  • Low ₹250 + GST fee, waived at ₹50,000 annual spend
  • Joining fee waived on ₹10,000 spend in the first 90 days
  • Flat 1% on most spends — nothing to track
  • 5% on SmartBuy flights, hotels and vouchers
  • RuPay variant earns 1% on UPI
Watch out for
  • 1% is only a modest base rate
  • SmartBuy and UPI buckets are capped at 500 CashPoints a month each
  • No rewards on fuel, wallet, rent, government, EMI or cash
  • 3.5% forex markup
  • No lounge access

CashPoints are worth ₹1 each when redeemed in PayZapp and expire after two years.

Worked example: spend ₹20,000 a month on regular purchases and ₹5,000 on SmartBuy. You earn about ₹200 + ₹250 = ₹450 a month, or about ₹5,400 a year, and the ₹50,000 fee-waiver threshold is crossed easily.

Who it’s for

Good fit
  • First-time HDFC cardholders who want a cheap, simple card
  • People who book travel through SmartBuy
  • RuPay users who want rewards on UPI
Skip it if
  • You want higher category cashback — look at PIXEL Play
  • You want lounge access or travel benefits
  • You spend a lot abroad

Verdict

PIXEL Go is a sensible low-cost starter card: a ₹250 fee you can easily waive, flat 1% back and a 5% boost on SmartBuy. It is not a high-reward card, and if your spending clusters in a few categories, PIXEL Play’s 5% packs will return more.
