The IndusInd Platinum Visa is the bank’s basic lifetime-free credit card. It has no joining or annual fee, earns a flat reward rate on most spends, and includes lost-card and travel insurance covers.

It is a simple, low-maintenance card rather than a rewarding one. Recent IndusInd changes — cheaper cash redemption, a cap on cash redemption, new fees on rent and large utility payments, and the end of air-accident cover — mean it is worth checking the details before you use it as your main card.

In short: A lifetime-free entry card that returns about 0.6% when you redeem points for vouchers or products (0.4% as cash). No lounge access, a 3.5% forex markup and new usage fees from June 2026. Fine as a free backup card; not a strong primary card.

ItemDetail
Earn rate1.5 reward points per ₹150 (1 point per ₹100)

Value: cash credit₹0.40 per point (about 0.4%), capped at 2,500 points a month

Worked example: Spend ₹25,000 a month and you earn 250 points, or 3,000 a year. Redeemed for vouchers at ₹0.60, that is ₹1,800 a year less the ₹100 redemption fee. As cash credit it is ₹1,200 less ₹149. Either way the effective return is about 0.5%.

What earns nothing

Fuel spends earn no reward points. Rent and large payments in some categories now attract a fee instead (see the fees table).

  • Skip if: you want rewards, lounge access or a card for rent and big bill payments.

Final verdict

A no-cost card with basic protection. The 0.4–0.6% reward rate and new usage fees keep it from being anyone’s main card, but as a free backup it does no harm. If you want an IndusInd card with better rewards at no fee, the Platinum Aura Edge lets you choose a higher-earning category.
