The health & wellness benefit suite

This is what differentiates the SBI Pulse from generic cashback cards:

BenefitDetails & Value
Welcome smartwatchNoise ColorFit (or equivalent fitness tracker, worth ₹3,500–₹5,000) credited on first txn within 45 days
Netmeds First subscription1-year complimentary membership giving 10% flat discount on prescription medicines + free home delivery (worth ₹2,000+)
Practo teleconsultations2 complimentary unlimited video consultations per year (worth ₹1,000+)
Annual health checkup discount20% off at partnered diagnostic chains (1mg Labs, Thyrocare, Dr Lal PathLabs)
Mental wellness app discountDiscount on InnerHour / similar subscription (promotional)
Cult.fit partnershipDiscounts on Cult.fit memberships and fitness classes (varies)
For someone who actively engages with these partners — regular chemist visits, online consultation with Practo, periodic diagnostic tests — the combined value of Netmeds + Practo + diagnostic discount alone can reach ₹3,000–₹5,000 per year, covering the annual fee and making the smartwatch plus reward points pure upside.

Airport lounge access

  • 4 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits per year (1 per quarter) via Mastercard Lounge network
  • No international lounge access (available on SBI Elite and above)
  • Additional visits: ₹500 per visit charged to card

Welcome benefit

  • Noise ColorFit Pulse Grand / similar smartwatch (worth ₹3,500–₹5,000), shipped within 30 days of card activation
  • 1 complimentary year of Netmeds First subscription, activated on first Netmeds transaction
  • 2 Practo video consultations (valid for 1 year from card issuance)

Where the SBI Pulse falls short

0.5% on general spend is uncompetitive vs universal 1–2% cashback cards. Use this card strictly for health/dining/movie categories.
Reward point cap of 5,000 per month on the 10X categories — so the accelerated earn stops after ₹50,000/month of chemist + dining + movie spend (unlikely to be a practical limit for most users).
Health benefits require active use — if you never use Netmeds, Practo or the partner diagnostic chains, the value drops to just smartwatch + reward points. Honest assessment: many urban buyers don’t actually switch their pharmacy or use teleconsultation habitually.
3.5% forex markup makes this useless for international spend.

Compared with alternatives

CardCategory rewardAnnual FeeUnique benefit
SBI Pulse2.5% chemist/dining/movies₹1,499Smartwatch + Netmeds + Practo
Axis ACE2% utilities, 5% Swiggy/Zomato₹499Flat rewards on bills
HDFC Swiggy10% Swiggy, 5% other online₹500Swiggy voucher welcome
Axis Dining Delights4% diningLTFSpecific dining focus
HDFC Millennia5% online (partners)₹1,000Flat 2.5% on online

For pure dining rewards, the HDFC Swiggy or Axis ACE deliver more. SBI Pulse’s edge is specifically the health ecosystem bundle — if you actively use Netmeds, Practo, and 1mg Labs, no other card matches that combination. For most users without organic use of health apps, the card becomes just “another 2.5% dining/movies card” and other options deliver better value.

Bottom line — should you get it?

The SBI Pulse Credit Card is niche but thoughtful. It works very well for a specific user profile: urban health-conscious buyers who spend ₹2,000+/month on chemists / diagnostics, use Netmeds regularly for recurring medications, and dine out / watch movies enough to leverage the 10X category bonus. For this profile, the first-year value easily reaches ₹6,000–₹10,000 (including the smartwatch), delivering strong ROI on the ₹1,769 joining fee.

Skip it if (a) your pharmacy and health spend is occasional — the Netmeds, Practo, and diagnostic benefits only pay back for active users, (b) you want general-purpose cashback — any 2% flat card (Axis ACE, Tata Neu Plus RuPay) delivers more on your total spend, or (c) you already have a Swiggy co-brand card — SBI Pulse’s 2.5% dining reward is below HDFC Swiggy’s effective dining return.

Verdict 7.3 / 10

A well-designed niche card for health-conscious households. Value depends heavily on using the Netmeds and Practo partnerships actively. First-year value is strong; second-year renewal decision should be based on whether the benefits matched your actual lifestyle.
