UAN Activation & Login: Your Key to EPF Services

Last verified: June 2026, against EPFO procedures. Portal steps and numbers can change — confirm on the official EPFO member portal. General information, not financial advice.

Your UAN (Universal Account Number) is the master key to all your EPF (Provident Fund) services online. Activating it once lets you check balance, download your passbook, transfer PF and withdraw — without involving your employer for every step.

What the UAN is

The UAN is a 12-digit number allotted by EPFO that stays the same for life, across all your jobs. Each employer links your PF account (member ID) to this one UAN, so all your PF sits under a single number.

How to activate your UAN

  1. Get your UAN from your employer or your salary slip.
  2. Go to the EPFO Member e-Sewa portal and click “Activate UAN”.
  3. Enter your UAN, name, date of birth, Aadhaar-linked mobile number and Aadhaar/PAN.
  4. Verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile.
  5. Set a password — your UAN becomes your login ID.

What you can do once activated

  • Check your EPF balance and download the passbook.
  • Transfer PF when you change jobs.
  • Update KYC (Aadhaar, PAN, bank), and file withdrawal/advance claims online.

Keep these linked

Make sure your Aadhaar, PAN and bank account are seeded and verified in the UAN portal — online claims and transfers fail if KYC is incomplete or your mobile isn’t Aadhaar-linked.
