EPF Balance Check: 4 Ways (SMS, Missed Call, App, Portal)
Last verified: June 2026, against EPFO procedures. Portal steps and numbers can change — confirm on the official EPFO member portal. General information, not financial advice.
Checking your EPF (Provident Fund) balance takes seconds — there are four official ways, including a free SMS and a missed call. Here they are.
Four ways to check your PF balance
- EPFO member portal: log in with your UAN and password and view/download the passbook.
- UMANG app: the government app — open EPFO → “View Passbook” and log in with UAN + OTP.
- SMS: from your UAN-registered mobile, send EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899 (replace ENG with your language code) to get balance and last contribution.
- Missed call: give a missed call to 011-22901406 from your registered mobile; you receive the details by SMS.
What you need
Your UAN must be activated and your mobile number registered (and ideally Aadhaar/PAN/bank seeded) for SMS and missed-call services to work. KYC must be linked for the passbook to show.
Reading the balance
Your PF balance includes your contribution + your employer’s contribution + interest. Note that part of the employer’s share goes to the pension scheme (EPS), so the passbook shows EPF and EPS portions separately.
FAQs
How can I check my PF balance for free?
Send EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899, or give a missed call to 011-22901406, from your UAN-registered mobile.
Why can’t I see my balance?
Your UAN may not be activated, your mobile may not be registered, or KYC isn’t seeded. Activate UAN and complete KYC first.
Does the balance include employer contribution?
Yes — it shows your share, the employer’s EPF share and interest; the employer’s pension (EPS) share is shown separately.
