All fees and reward rates verified against issuer official T&C pages as of June 2026. Reward programmes change frequently — confirm with the issuer before applying.

Checked October 2026. Each card was checked against its issuer’s current terms. The brackets assume most spend is on eligible categories; rent, fuel, wallet loads and utilities are excluded or capped on most cards, so subtract those before choosing a bracket.

How to read these brackets

The right card depends on how much you put on it. A simple test: net value = rewards earned − annual fee (after any waiver). A premium card with a ₹10,000 fee needs a lot of spend to beat a free 1.5% card.

Annual spend Free 1.5% card ₹2,500-fee card at 3.3% ₹12,500-fee card at 5%
₹5 lakh ₹7,500 ₹14,000 ₹12,500
₹10 lakh ₹15,000 ₹30,500 ₹37,500
₹25 lakh ₹37,500 ₹80,000 ₹1,12,500

Illustrative net values (rewards minus fee, before fee waivers). Real reward rates are lower once caps and excluded categories are applied, so treat them as upper bounds.

What changed for 2026

  • Many premium cards cut milestone bonuses, transfer ratios and accelerated categories in 2026.
  • Lounge access on most cards became spend-based.
  • Utility, rent, wallet and government payments are excluded or capped on most cards.
